Local Dancers Head to New York to Perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Pompano Beach, FL — While families across the country gather around their Thanksgiving tables, dancers from Pompano Dance Studio (formerly ProAm Dance Studio) will be taking the national stage in New York City as performers in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This celebrated tradition takes place every three years and offers talented teen dancers the opportunity of a lifetime—to perform with Spirit of America Productions, joining more than 600 dancers from across the nation.
The remarkable journey began in 1998, when ProAm Dancers first stepped onto the Macy’s parade route under Mike Miller & Associates. Since then, the studio has proudly continued the tradition, performing in 2003, 2007, 2011, 2014, 2018, 2022, and now 2025. This year marks a milestone: the studio’s first time performing under its new name Pompano Dance Studio and will be the eighth time performing.
“Our dancers work incredibly hard, and this tradition has become such a meaningful part of who we are,” said Katie Westrich, Artistic Director of Pompano Dance Studio. “To represent South Florida on a national stage is an honor, and seeing our students live out this moment is truly inspiring.” Company Team Manager, Jordyn Graham, danced in the parade back in 2011, she said “Macy’s was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dancing in one of New York’s biggest parades with my best friends is something I’ll always treasure, and we still reminisce about it even a decade later. I hope the girls feel the energy of the city and the joy of the season, and recognize how special this opportunity is—not everyone gets to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with their closest friends!”.
The studio’s long-standing involvement has also encouraged other local dance studios to participate—including its sister studio, Boca Dance Studio, which will be performing for the fourth time this year.
“We’re excited to share this experience with other local studios and celebrate what makes South Florida’s dance community so strong: passion, dedication, and teamwork,” said Westrich.
Dancers will spend the week rehearsing in New York City, preparing for their nationally televised moment on Thanksgiving morning. Their itinerary also includes seeing the legendary Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, sightseeing, tours and more!
The parade airs live on NBC beginning at 8:30 a.m. EST.
